Jade Benjamin-Chung is a Research Scientist at UC Berkeley who works closely with the Malaria Elimination Initiative (MEI) to apply causal inference, data science, and machine learning techniques to malaria elimination research. She is currently leading a study that aims to estimate spillover effects (i.e. herd effects) and fine-scale spatial heterogeneity associated with the effectiveness of malaria elimination interventions, such as reactive focal mass drug administration and reactive case detection. In addition to her research on malaria, Jade has led studies focused on child growth and enteric infection in South and Southeast Asia.
Jade has a PhD in Epidemiology and an MA in Biostatistics from the University of California, Berkeley. Her work is funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
