Global Health Group is featured on ABC News
On January 14, Dr. Roly Gosling, Lead of the Global Health Group’s Malaria Elimination Initiative was featured on ABC news, highlighting the initiative’s new $15 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The grant will accelerate progress towards elimination in 34 countries around the world and will work to ensure that they have the necessary resources to be able to achieve their elimination goals.
Dr. Gosling was quoted in the interview, "Bill and Melinda Gates have made one of their main goals to eradicate malaria in their lifetime. And as long as we have this political leadership, we can do it." Under the new grant, the Malaria Elimination Initiative will seek to maintain and increase political commitment for elimination, as well as expand its work on economics, finance, evidence-based advocacy, and operational research. This includes activities such as creating an investment case for elimination, developing new tools and strategies to detect and treat infections, and translating evidence based research in to policies to support malaria eliminating countries.
