Marvious Kiwanuka

Marvious Kiwanuka is a PhD student specializing in entomology with a focus on vector surveillance at the National Malaria Control Division (NMCD) of the Ministry of Health Uganda. Currently working with the Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC), he investigates the spatial and temporal interactions between human behavior and vector dynamics to improve protection strategies against malaria and reduce transmission.

His previous research includes assessing trends of mosquito resistance to insecticides, particularly in relation to genetic markers in West Nile region Uganda. Marvious holds a Master’s degree in Entomology and Parasitology from Makerere University and has participated in a malaria training program funded by the Fogarty International Center of the NIH as a Trainee. In addition to his research, Marvious is affiliated with Kyambogo University, where he actively contributes to capacity building and mentors undergraduate students in medical entomology and vector biology. His work integrates entomological and epidemiological outcomes while considering the effects of climate change on malaria transmission.
