Vector Control for Malaria Elimination Retreat Summary now available
The UCSF Global Health Group’s Malaria Elimination Initiative (MEI) convened a group of experts from research institutions and partner organizations from all over the world to generate enthusiasm and collaboration around a new research program supported by the Parker Foundation that aims to accelerate progress toward malaria elimination through innovative and aggressive vector control.
The meeting summary includes highlights from presentations and discussions focused on reviewing an expanded vector control toolbox as it relates to malaria vectors, local ecology, and vector behaviors; deliberating optimal research topics and geographies to help shape the MEI research program; determining variables for geo-spatial and transmission modeling; and brainstorming options for a proposed second phase of research to trial novel tools in a malaria endemic setting.
