
Otubea Owusu Akrofi
Otubea Owusu Akrofi is a Medical Entomologist and a Project Management Professional with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), Ghana.
She works as the Deputy Chief Entomologist and head of the vector control unit. She leads the unit to implement vector control interventions such as the distribution of Long-Lasting Insecticidal Net, Indoor Residual Spraying, larviciding and entomological surveillance across the country. Her Interest are in vector control, vector behavior and insecticide resistance. She has contributed to the development of the malaria strategic plan and several guidelines and plans for the NMEP including vector control policies and guidelines. She also ensures collaboration with stakeholders involved in malaria vector control in the country. Currently she mainly coordinates vector control campaigns, undertakes capacity building at all levels and lectures on Project Management at the Step-Up Business School in Accra.
Otubea is currently a PhD student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, she investigates the role of insecticide resistance and negative cross resistance in the effectiveness of insecticides for Indoor Residual Spraying in Ghana.
She is a member of the Pan African Mosquito Control Association, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and the Project Management Institute, USA and Ghana chapters.
